The
motifs of this bed are the "Running Horse"
design coupled with Navajo Geometric Designs carved in different depths,
then stained in contrasting colors. "Mimbre Horse" designs,
a matching Navajo Design and a "Rock Art" design are on the footboard. This bed frame is made of Knotty
Pine, stained
in Antique Pine; the posts are aged and recycled Douglas Fir and stained in
Gunstock. The joints between the frame and the posts are highlighted with
contrasting band inlays. The stain was
followedby four coats of Danish Oil, two
coats of Tung Oil and
hand waxed to bring out the detail and highlights of the wood.
